Memorial Day Stitching

First off, Happy Memorial Day to everyone. I personally would like to thank all those selfless men and women who serve our country not just today but everyday. I wish they all be home this day! It's been a lazy Memorial day for me, I spent it stitching on this piece-Bluebird's Message by Blackbird Designs. I love the colors in this one-though I never really paid attention to it until I saw it stitched and framed at my LNS Needle Delights .

Have you ever had that happen? Never paid attention to a pattern until you saw it stitched up and then all of a sudden you had to stitch it? Anyway, I am enjoying it. I am stitching it on the recommended 30 count French Vanilla with Week's threads. I am pleased with my progress since I had a major snafu last week and had to take that entire bird out and it was no fun! I could have just cried, but alas I prevailed-LOL

I also started on The Mercantile by LHN and I am enjoying that, though there is not much to see just yet. I will post a picture of it soon. I always have really good intentions of updating my blog, but then time gets away from me. You all know how that is! Anyway, back to stitching. Thanks as always for stopping by!

Sharon,

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day.

Your Bluebird's Message is really pretty. I have been working on BBD's Summerhouse Pincushion from the Honeysuckle Manor book. It uses two colors of Weeks and I love them both. I hope to have it finished very soon.

Enjoy your summer.

Sharon, you have a wonderful start to your BB project! The colors are so vibrant; I can't wait to see it finished.
Took a peek at the kiddoes; they are all beautiful!

A beautiful start Sharon! Yes, that has happened to me. You don't think about stitching a design until you see it in person. I think they always look prettier in person than in the chart photos. This design has such beautiful colors!

I recently joined the Blackbird Designs group, and I started on my SAL piece Snow Garden. It's much prettier in person too!

Awful when you have to do that much frogging :( your bluebird is certainly looking lovely now, this is a lovely chart - another one that I've not noticed before but will now be keeping an eye for it. I started my SAL last night - Snow Garden.

Pretty, pretty blue bird. I am so sorry that you had to frog him out but he's looking fine now.

Looks good so far, despite frogging.

Very pretty start.

What a wonderful project this is. So sorry that you had frogging trouble when stitching the birdie. And yes, I also know thsi feeling of being urged to start a certain project. That sometimes happens to me when I leaf through old magazines and suddenly discover a piece that I had seen many times before but it had never appealed to me. And suddenly it begins to call my name, lol.

That's a beautiful project you're working on, Sharon! I've been tempted by LHN Mercantile, but so far I've stayed strong, LOL. I "had" to buy the Library piece, which I haven't even looked at since it arrived - shame on me!!

Sharon the colours in your WIP are just fantastic! I often suddenly buy things when I see the piece stitched. I find the cover photography rarely does a piece justice.

Love it! I really like how BBD uses color :-).

Sorry to hear about the frog :o( The piece is looking beautiful Sharon.

That's why it's SO dangerous to go to LNS that have models on display!!!! LOL!

You got a nice start going!

Nice start! And the main reason I love to go to different LNS' is to see the models! It always makes such a difference.

Beautiful BBD start! It's one of my favorite BBDs--reminds me of a fraktur.

Very pretty start! I love BBD!

Those colors are beautiful! And yes, I have done exactly that: not paid attention 'till I saw it framed! That gets me in LOTS of trouble when I attend stitching conventions, lol. They have everything framed!! :-)

Your Bluebird's Message looks lovely, this is such a nice start!
I agree with you that seeing a stitched piece in person impresses much more that a picture.

Wow it looks lovely. Yes that happens to me all the time lol. Too many charts - not enough time. x

I have to admit I've often fallen in love with a design after seeing it stitched up on someone's blog - a number of times I've seen a Xmas ornie that I've actually passed over in the JCS mags, then seen it stitched up and wanted to stitch it straightaway, only to be surprised it was under my nose all this time! Sorry to hear about the frog attack, but it's looking great :)

Lovely bird!
I'm trying not to buy The Mercantile, it's hard. It reminds me of the Oleson's in The Little House. Lol!

Looking good. Happy stitching

Such a nice start to a pretty little project, Sharon!!

There's nothing like seeing art, or stitched design up close and personal! There are several projects I've done that didn't appeal to me until I saw the finished piece in a shop. It's like ordering flosses or linens online versus seeing them, comparing, and choosing the same items in a shop.

My online visiting has been limited lately, so I've been missing you and all my blogging friends. Hugs and Stitches! :D

What a great piece Sharon. Love all these Blackbirds. Hope your border matches up perfectly right off the bat. I usually stitch my borders first (even if they are boring) as like you I'm always afraid of being off.

Hope you and yours are having a wonderful 4th of July weekend.
